While the thought of a neatly organized closet brings joy to many hearts, actually organizing…
3 Types of Kitchen Wall Organizers: Which One Is Best for Your Kitchen?
If your kitchen is the most cluttered room in your house, a wall organizer to utilize vertical space might be the solution to your organizational woes. Here are three popular types of kitchen wall organizers.
Hidden Racks and Baskets
If your kitchen doesn’t have much open space on your countertops, in your cabinets, or on your walls, make the most of the hidden spaces. Often, these hidden spots are in places like the ends of your cabinets, the inside of your pantry door, or in the little nooks and crannies of your kitchen where you can fit a rack or a basket.
A large, long rack on the inside of your pantry door is a great way to store pots, pans, or food items you can’t fit elsewhere. Because this rack is only visible on the inside of the pantry, it keeps your kitchen from looking cluttered while allowing you some extra storage space.
That space on each end side of your cabinets? Those are great places to install small baskets where you can store cutting boards, cookbooks, and extra kitchen gadgets or supplies that don’t fit anywhere else. This area is an ideal spot for items you often grab but can get quickly cluttered in your cabinets or other spaces. Because they’ll be out in the open and arm’s reach, you can grab these items at a moment’s notice right when you need them.
And these baskets don’t have to be a typical, plain white wire either. Have fun with different colors and materials—do a wicker basket! The possibilities are endless.
Small Floating Shelves
While large open shelves are popular design choices now as kitchen wall organizers, they often don’t provide a lot of storage space. If you already have kitchen cabinets, adding small floating shelves onto an empty wall will add some flair to your kitchen while allowing extra storage space. If you have a room above your sink between your cabinets, shelves are a practical yet aesthetically pleasing way to fill the space.
This space is a great place to display your cookbooks, your measuring cups, and spoons, your mortar and pestle, or your favorite dishware. Don’t be afraid to use your backsplash wall space as well. Floating shelves can be installed on a backsplash too, and they’ll have a beautiful background. You can still use hooks to hang up objects if you want to use your backsplash but not the floating shelves. If you have a tile backsplash, command hooks are a temporary option that will allow you to hang up your measuring cups, spoons, your wish, or your oven mitts!
Hang Up Displays
The best way to free up space in your kitchen is to hang up the objects that take up the most space! There’s a reason why so many restaurant kitchens hang up their pots and pans on large racks rather than stacking them in cabinets. For one, this makes it way easier to grab the pot or pan you need. It also is a great way to dry your pots and pans after washing, saving you time in the kitchen. This storage method is not only a great way to display gorgeous cookware like copper pots, but it’s also an ingenious way to organize and store that cookware.
Install hooks on your pantry door, cabinet doors or sides, or the wall. These hooks don’t have to be permanent. There are many temporary options, like ones from Command™. We recommend hanging up your apron and dish towels on these hooks. If you have plates or other kitchenware you love, such as ones that have been in your family for years, creating a plate display can be a nice way to personalize your kitchen while creating more storage space.
